  • Back To My Best Weight Loss Programme

It's not a diet: it's a proven formula for enduring lifestyle change, transforming your mind and body. The recipe for my program consists of 5 Principles:

    1:1 Problems Helped. mindset

    1. Unconscious Habit Changes:
We will discover what's triggering you to eat, then I use a series of powerful Positive Psychology techniques Hypnotherapy, NLP, Coaching, Mindfulness and CBT to reprogram your subconscious eating habits and change your beliefs, attitudes and behaviours around food.
I am a licensed Hypno-Gastric Band Practitioner, so you can choose to have a Hypno Gastric Band fitted to make your stomach feel smaller.

    1:1 Problems Helped. movement

    2. Movement:
Moving is a key factor in improving your shape, but you don’t have to spend hours down the gym or in workout classes - walking is just effective and we can build a plan tailored to you.

If, like me, you’re busy juggling family and work commitments you can take advantage of the latest techniques, which only require short bursts of activity a few times a week. Also, we look at how to build more movement into your day. I can embed these changes into hypnotherapy, making it much easier to achieve and maintain your weight goal for good.

1:1 Problems Helped. high protein bfast

    3. Food / Drink Choices:
The wrong food choices can make you hungrier or more prone to put on weight. I give you the latest information about the best weight-loss tips for all the food groups, such as why resistant starches help.

Of course, drinks can cause big problems, especially alcohol - hypnotherapy & NLP are powerful habit breakers.

    1:1 Problems Helped. relax field

    4. Stress-Busting & Relaxation:
Missing a meal, eating a sugary snack, getting upset or sleeping badly can create a surge of the stress hormone cortisol. Cortisol alters your hormones resulting in low mood, anxiety, slowed metabolism and making you very hungry, causing you to reach for fatty, sugary, high-energy food. Many weight-loss programs fail, because they fail to address stress. We will explore the stress in your life and use methods to reduce and manage it.

1:1 Problems Helped. Achieve your goals

    5. Be Your Own Coach:
You will learn methods to become your own Weight Loss Coach. By the end of the course you will be confident about keeping yourself on track for a permanent healthy lifestyle.

Some of my clients are so inspired that they train to become Life Coaches themselves.

I have great success helping women lose 'baby weight' after pregnancy and the child-rearing years. I address the particular issues that may be impacting you, including, but not limited to: lack of sleep, family stress, juggling work and family life, lack of 'me' time. I also have techniques to specifically help with any problems arising from hormone disruption after pregnancy such as post-natal depression, anxiety, fatigue etc.

If you've been on a strict diet, your body releases extra hormones to make you hungrier, having perceived you as being in a famine state and wanting to regain the lost body weight. My program is not a diet and my clients lose fat slowly and steadily, avoiding this 'famine state' problem, also ensuring they're losing fat not muscle. See Why Diets Don't Work

Join me and break free from that cycle of failure. Treat yourself and get Back To Your Best - Stop dieting, get your desired figure and free up your energy, money and time for other areas of your life.

1:1 Problems Helped. success dreams bigger than excuses

    What I Expect From You

The program requires you to practice some techniques, listen to audio and do a little bit of homework. Please ask yourself the following questions:

Are you ready to be honest about your habits, thoughts & beliefs? If you can't, then we may not uncover the triggers or root causes of your weight problem.

Are you willing to take action? There will be (fun) techniques to practice, audio to listen to and some re-inforcement reading to do, which will, literally, change your mind.

Are you ready to move? Even if it's just incorporating some brisk walking into your week?

Are you sure you've had enough of trying the next miracle diet and you're now ready to commit to permanent change?

Please don't treat this like just another diet. I use a completely different approach: this will help you to transform your lifestyle.

If your answers are YES to all of the above, then READ ON...

  • 1:1 Problems Helped. hypnoband

    The Hypno Gastric Band

It is a non-surgical technique which uses the power of hypnosis to retrain you to be satisfied with smaller amounts of food. The process convinces the sub-conscious mind that there is a restrictive mechanism fitted to the stomach, making you feel fuller quicker. It is also known as: the Virtual Gastric Band, the Hypno- Band and the Gastric Mind Band.

The program develops a healthy, natural weight control system, based on the natural biological signals of eating when hungry and stopping when satisfied, rather than forming an emotional attachment to food and eating. We address emotional and psychological issues as the root of an individual's ultimate need to overeat.

There are predictable results with ZERO risk. Real-life Gastric Band surgery is high risk and is very restrictive with diet. It often fails, because it fails to deal with the client's issues with food and eating.

I trained with The Hypno-Band Weight Loss organization and I am a Licensed Hypno-Band Practitioner. I am also a fully qualified hypnotherapist.

1:1 Problems Helped. Achieve your goals

I believe that the Hypno-Gastric Band combined with my Back To My Best program is better than any other.

I lost four stone after a hypnotist convinced me to have a gastric band

By Andy Dolan of The Daily Mail

As gastric band operations go, it was surprisingly straightforward and pleasant. There was no pain, no risk of infection, no anaesthetic, no recovery period afterwards, and all at only a fraction of the £7,000 such surgery would usually cost. That's because the patient, company director Emma Eveleigh-Anderton, 36, never actually had a gastric band fitted, but was just hypnotised into thinking she had.

Dramatic weight loss: Emma Eveleigh-Anderston, 36, has dropped five dress sizes in six months after being hypnotised into believing she has a gastric band. The mother-of-two paid £980 for four sessions over a one-month period, starting with a 45-minute 'virtual' surgery where therapist Russell Hemmings talked her through every step of the medical procedure as though she was actually in the operating theatre.

She said: 'It was as if I was having the operation, except I was in an office rather than a theatre.

'After the first session I felt hopeful. But after the second I really felt positive and much more controlled about my eating. It has actually re-educated my mind. I was starting to feel fuller quicker and was eating much less.'

Mrs Eveleigh-Anderton, from Coventry, runs her own conference and exhibition organisation firm with husband Darren, 42. Her weight issues had not been helped by the struggle to shift her baby weight after the birth of daughters Antonia, seven, and six-year-old Alice a year apart.

    1:1 Problems Helped. slim hypnoband

She turned to the virtual gastric band therapy after diets, appetite suppression pills and sheer willpower failed to help her lose weight alone. She swapped takeaway food for salad, fruit and grilled fish and as the weight fell off - up to 3lb a week - she began taking gentle morning jogs. Now she runs for 30 minutes most mornings and has dropped from a size 18 to an 8. Last month she was fit enough to complete a half-marathon in her home city.

The therapy works by using a combination of cognitive behavioural therapy and hypnotherapy to 'reprogramme' a patient's mind to respond differently in everyday situations involving food. It also avoids risks associated with the surgical procedure such as DVT or MRSA, and patients do not need to submit to a general anaesthetic. The virtual gastric band hypnotherapy is now in high demand.

In May last year, the Daily Mail told how Marion Corns, a mother-of-three, lost four stone after travelling to a clinic in Marbella, Spain, for the same therapy. In the four months following her £780 treatment, Mrs Corns, of Whiston Merseyside, went from 15st 6lb to 11st 7lb, while her dress size dropped from 22 to a 14.

It costs around £7,000 to have a real gastric band fitted privately. The surgery involves fitting a band around the stomach which slows the passage of food and makes a patient feel fuller for longer. The procedure is available on the NHS for patients who have met specific criteria, such as failing to lose weight by other methods. The associated death rate is around one in 2,000.

How can Hypnotherapy reduce Menopausal Symptoms?

HRT helps many women through this difficult phase of life, however, it doesn’t work for everyone and many women are either unwilling or unable to take HRT.

Recently, the British Medical Journal published a review of alternative treatments for menopausal symptoms. They concluded that CBT and Hypnotherapy were the only two effective alternative treatments they could recommend reducing menopausal symptoms, including hot flushes. Yet the benefits of hypnotherapy for menopausal symptoms are rarely talked about and few doctors or women know about it.

How hypnotherapy can relieve menopausal symptoms

    My Approach is as follows:

  • Stress Reduction techniques. Reduce stress and you reduce menopausal symptoms
  • Regain control over hot flushes, through breathing and relaxation techniques
  • Tackling sleep problems

Research has shown that once-weekly sessions of hypnosis, can help women reduce hot flushes by 70 per cent after just five weeks, reducing both the frequency and the intensity of the flushing. Women taking part in this research also reported being ‘highly satisfied’ with the treatment, scoring it more than 9 out of 10.

Many of us have high levels of daily stress, far more than our bodies were designed to cope with. (See my Stress section, for more details). By bringing these stress hormone levels down, your menopausal symptoms will improve dramatically.

Restful sleep is often a casualty of the menopause. Frequent hot flushes or night sweats disturb sleep, while stress and anxiety can make it hard to get to sleep in the first place or to go back to sleep again after being woken. In addition to reducing the flushes, learning simple techniques to control night-time anxiety can mean a happier, more rested feeling for the next day.

During the peri-menopause or menopause women can feel like their lives are falling apart. Hypnotherapy will help you to regain your life and sanity and take control of the situation.

  • What Is The Menopause?

The menopause is caused by a drop in levels of the hormone oestrogen, resulting in the cessation of periods. However, symptoms can begin up to 10 years before a woman’s actual menopause (the peri-menopause): periods become erratic and the other symptoms make their presence felt.

The menopause occurs when you haven’t had a period for a year. For some women the unpleasant symptoms disappear with time, but others can carry on experiencing problems for many years. These symptoms aren’t just physical either.

Why does the menopause make me emotional?

Oestrogen affects many parts of the body, including the brain. It interacts with the part of the brain that affects bodily temperature, as a result – causing a hot flush!
Oestrogen acts as an emotional regulator as well, having an effect on the brain that is very similar to the class of antidepressant medication called SSRIs. The body’s stress regulating organs, the adrenal glands, are also affected by falling levels of oestrogen. As a result, we become more sensitive to stress, meaning that levels of anxiety increase and women become more susceptible to depression and mood swings.

After the birth of my first child, I had Post Natal depression and became highly anxious. I believe I had a Perfect Storm of post natal hormone disruption and peri-menopausal hormone imbalance, as my early menopause came 7 years after my first pregnancy. I believe it was no coincidence that when my menopause started, I was also diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome/ME, as a result of my hormone imbalance and heightened anxiety and Adrenal Fatigue. I eventually, recovered from CFS/ME and managed the effects of the menopausal symptoms after having trained as a Hypnotherapist, NLP Practitioner and Life Coach. So I have walked in your shoes and used these amazing techniques myself.

The good news is that Hypnotherapy, NLP, Coaching & CBT have a great effect on stress! For years, I was often in an extremely stressed state when I had Chronic Fatigue/ME, but I recovered by using techniques from these methods.

Stress can cause, anxiety, panic attacks, OCD, lack of self-esteem, vulnerability, fear, depression and feelings of being overwhelmed. Many good intentions to change fail in the long-run, because they don’t tackle stress management. Clients often feel 'stuck' or 'helpless' in this state, but, often, they don't realize how stressed they are because it feels 'normal'.

It may also cause a variety of unpleasant physical symptoms (see below). It can be caused by major events, like death or divorce, but also by ongoing pressures like: a lack of sleep, overwork, too many deadlines, kids, family, boredom – well just about anything depending on what your triggers are.

    What is Stress?

We all suffer from stress to a greater or lesser degree in modern life. The stress response - fight flight fright - is our body’s way of trying to protect us from danger. It worked well when we were caveman, as it does for my cat, Casper. He runs in all upset because the cat across the road has threatened him, tail like a bottle brush, eyes wide, yowling - obviously stressed - the next minute he's flopped over on the floor asleep. This is how it's supposed to work for us: we get stressed because a tiger is stalking us, our body releases stress hormones from the adrenal glands (cortisol, DHEA, adrenalin and more), diverting energy from areas of our body that don’t need it (digestion, immune system) to areas that do need it (muscles, heart, blood – for a quick escape) giving us extra strength and focus. So, your digestive system may have tummy butterflies or diarrhoea, your breathing and heart become faster, taking in more air and get blood around body, you get tunnel vision to help you focus on an escape. Cortisol also helps us release energy from our muscles and lowers Immune function - then when danger has passed we should feel drained and relax/sleep to recover, then the stress hormones return to normal levels.

When we were cavewomen, our body released stress hormones for a few dangerous situations maybe once a week or month. However, since then, our brains have evolved a Frontal Cortex, which allows us to worry about past events and future problems - this creates daily stress, along with problems of modern life, such as deadlines, traffic jams, kid’s homework, FOMO (keeping up with the Jones’s), lack of sleep, work emails 24/7 etc.

These stress hormones are a big burden on us: they take energy to produce and they need a lot of resources, which they steal from other areas of our body, as they were only designed for short-term, occasional use. Our clever brain is constantly trying to keep our body functioning in prime condition, so when it gets the feedback that we are producing and using the stress hormones far more often, it thinks that this is normality and instead of the hormone production dropping, once the perceived threat is over, it keeps producing them at a high rate. This could save our lives if we were in a long-term war, but isn't useful in our modern life - this can cause Adrenal Fatigue, because your Adrenal Glands get tired of producing hormones that were only meant for occasional use.

Stress causes the release of hormones such as adrenalin and cortisol, which cause:

  • Periods of increased metabolism, which speed up your thoughts and actions
  • Followed by periods of a slowed metabolism, when you feel exhausted (affecting thyroid hormone levels)
  • Induces cravings – stress hormones use a lot of your body’s energy, making you feel very tired and hungry, causing you to reach for high energy snacks (which are usually high in fat and sugar)
  • Cortisol causes an imbalance in blood sugar, it raises blood sugar levels (to give you extra energy in flight/fight mode), but you have to secrete extra insulin to get rid of it, which can lead to insulin resistance causing you to store more fat, feel very depleted of energy and reach for high energy snacks and feel constantly hungry.
  • Lower serotonin, creating low mood or depression, which may cause you to eat more
  • Disrupts sleep (which makes us more stressed and more likely to reach for high calorie foods)
  • Leads to inflammation, causing a variety of long-term health problems
  • Lowers your immunity
  • Causes illness and disease including: stroke, heart disease, chronic fatigue/ME, lupus, IBS/digestive problems, Type 2 Diabetes (because it causes imbalances in blood sugar), asthma, insomnia, skin problems, eating disorders, cancer, circulatory problems (stress can make your body’s arteries and veins tighten up in response to the fight-or-flight complex), anxiety and panic attacks, depression.
  • Furthermore, the stress hormone, cortisol, steals LDL cholesterol (good cholesterol) from other areas of the body. LDL cholesterol is a building block of all hormones in your body. It can affect any of the many hormones and thus affect any system in your body.
One example is: You may have heard of couples who couldn't conceive, who gave up a stressful job, or started meditating and managed to get pregnant - this was probably because their over-production of stress hormones was supressing their production of progesterone or oestrogen.

  • What Can I Do About Stress?

As you can see, stress puts a huge strain on your body and drains your resources, making you very hungry – not just for any food, but for a food that can give you lots of energy very quickly: yes, something high in fat and sugar, like chocolate or cakes.

If you are peri-menopausal or menopausal, your hormones are in flux and may cause you to be even more anxious and stressed than usual. Many weight loss systems fail because they don’t tackle stress.

An essential part of stress management is about identifying and tackling the stressors in your life, these may include situations, people and the way you stress yourself. Most people have stress in their life to a greater or lesser degree, but many don’t realize when it has become a problem, as it gradually builds up over time. If you work with me, we can explore your stressors, evaluate the impact on you and eradicate the problems to improve your physical and mental health.

Here are a few simple steps you can take to reduce your stress hormones:

  • Meditate/ practise hypno-relaxation regularly - preferably daily, even if it's for only 5-10 minutes. In my next newsletter, I will include a link to a FREE Relaxation Hypnotherapy MP3, which you can also use for relaxation or to get to sleep.
  • Have some you time every day - maybe just 15-30 minutes. As employees, parents or carers we can get too wrapped up in rushing around doing the next thing on the list. Haven't got the time? How about spending a few minutes less in front of the TV, laptop or phone. Spend it doing things you enjoy such as: reading, gardening, yoga, listening to music, take up a hobby.
  • Each evening tell yourself at least 3 great things that happened AND 3 great things about you - be your own cheer-leader!

    Emergency De-stressing:

When you get very stressed, do some gentle exercise. This can help to get use up some of the extra energy/ stress hormones generated. If you’re at work, you could go to the toilet and do some brisk marching on the spot in a cubicle.

When you work with me, you will learn a group of simple, effective techniques, which suit you, to alleviate immediate stress and to reduce long-term stress.
